Seletti, the Italian design brand that sets itself apart by its unconventional and ever original approach, announces several new 2019 products which will be previewed at the Salone del Mobile in Milan – the par excellence international event of the furniture and design sector – and in the brand’s flagship store on Corso Garibaldi 117, in the Brera District.

Enriched with new products is the BLOW by Job & Seletti collection, the revolutionary project developed in collaboration with Studio Job, born of the desire to make accessible to a broader audience the exclusive design of the duo formed by Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel. The Seletti wears TOILETPAPER collection, a best-seller of the company which combines design and contemporary art in an ironic fashion, is also further developed with new projects. More lighting items done in collaboration with the designer-artist Marcantonio who puts his name to many of the most-loved items of the brand; and then a new lighting project designed by Studio AMeBE, consolidating its collaboration with the company. Lastly, the collaboration with the fashion brand Diesel continues with the Cosmic Diner line.

This edition of the Salone del Mobile is another opportunity to highlight the road which Seletti has boldly taken over the last few years”, says Stefano Seletti, the brand’s art director. “We have continued to experiment non-stop, both in terms of collaborations and in terms of product development. And so, today we can present projects created with some of the most internationally acclaimed creative entities, such as Studio Job and Toiletpaper, with types of products which, only a short time ago, seemed beyond reach, such as furniture and upholstery. I am happy to be able to confirm that the (r)evolution of Seletti is still in full swing!”

BLOW by Job & Seletti: The Lazy Painter, Pop & Lock – Studio Job design

BLOW by Job & Seletti is a family of objects with a decidedly pop design flavour, founded in 2017 by Stefano Seletti and Studio: it is a real design brand, a project that points to that idea of democratic design that has always distinguished Seletti. BLOW, with its exceptional style, has become one of the most talked-about experiments in design: the style and design of Studio Job merges with the DNA of Seletti, always committed to combine cutting-edge design with accessibility.

LAZY PAINTER

After the launch of the prototype last year, Seletti presents the final version of the American guilty pleasure’ par excellence: the lazy chair. Studio Job has taken up the challenge of reworking this concept and transforming the armchair into a status symbol, a must-have for all aficionados of design. Indeed, Lazy Painter stylishly combines comfort with aesthetic. The new fabric which covers it simulates real strokes of paint, thus creating the impression of being hand-painted. Studio Job transforms the traditional look of this piece of furniture into high fashion. The pattern of the Lazy Painter is contemporary avant-garde, with a touch of craftsmanship and a Memphis quote. Thus, this comfortable armchair becomes the object of everyone’s desire, and not just of the lazy.

POP & LOCK

This traditional container system is transformed, taking on a new functional meaning. Studio Job rediscovers the prints of the metal furniture from the Seletti archives, then radicalizes them: furniture for daily use is transformed into pop furnishings, canvases for the iconic and crazy ideas of the most famous international design duos and for the BLOW aesthetic.

“Why, in 2019, should metal furniture still be grey or white?’ asks Job Smeets. ‘With the new BLOW storage system, you can still have cool furnishings, even if you don’t have anything to put inside them.”

A wide variety of dimensions, colours, and finishings created to adapt to each room, in the home or in work spaces, in any setting in need of order, life, and colour!

The modules will be available as individual pieces or linked together via a striped base with the word Caution. Among the new patterns are also a series of boldly American-inspired themes, such as the Trump pop-art graphic, drawing inspiration from the hair of the notorious American president, one with hand-painted American Stripes, and Stars in which the stars of the US flag are made with popcorn. Among the other graphics are Wall (a brick wall), the flames of Fire, the black and white Chess, Spots, and the Caution strip.

A pop-art mix for expressing one’s own identity.

SELETTI WEARS TOILETPAPER: Sideboard, Stool – TOILETPAPER design

The experiments of Seletti and TOILETPAPER – the image-only magazine founded by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, with a revolutionary aesthetic – are unstoppable: the ability to shake up the retro mood of furniture of the 1950s with the magazine’s surreal images is never ending, and two new projects will be previewed during Milan Design Week.

For the first time, a series of storage furniture in which the vintage aesthetic of the Scandinavian sideboard is corrupted by crazy and over-the-top graphics of the magazine. It is the ideal product for giving a contemporary twist to even the most traditional spaces.

To the upholstered items – armchairs, sofas, poufs, and seats – the stool is added, becoming part of the collection: in this case too, the structure, characterised by soft and winding shapes, and refined detailing, like the brass feet, combine in a surprising way with the distinctly contemporary soft fabric upholstery.

SELETTI + MARCANTONIO: Monkey Chandelier, Heart Lamp – design: Marcantonio

Seletti proves itself, once again, to be a skilled publisher in the creation of visionary projects by the artist-designer Marcantonio, who has put his name to some of the products that have become icons of the brand, such as the Monkey Lamps, the Mouse Lamps, the Love in Bloom vase.

MONKEY CHANDELIER

The world of Monkey Lamp, the Seletti best-seller and a symbol of the brand’s unconventional approach to lighting, continues to grow and amaze, with a new and spectacular edition of the Monkey previewed at Milan Design Week.

Monkey Chandelier mixes the new breakthrough aesthetic of the Monkey, in a new composition, with the elegant and traditional style of a chandelier. Three curious monkeys hang onto a beautiful lamp, interpreted by Marcantonio in attitudes that reveal their playful nature: one standing and looking around tactlessly, another sitting down and resting, and the third hanging as if about to jump down and flee at any moment.

With this project, the designer yet again confirms his ability to work in the space between art and design, creating, with a sculptural and narrative approach, projects which combine functionality and a fairytale imagination.

HEART LAMP

After the huge success of the Love in bloom vase, the Heart Lamp, the epitome of a romantic sconce.

Marcantonio amazes once more the audience working on a project with an intense look and a poetic meaning. Heart Lamp is the perfect reproduction of a human heart in ceramic, containing a LED lamp radiating a subtle and warm light. Focusing on the storng relation between look and function, Marcantonio created a new lighting project in a perfect Senetti style: unexpected and out of the box.

CUPOLONE – Studio AMeBE design

Cupolone is a suspension light that combines craftsmanship and technology, a hyperrealistic reproduction of the dome of St. Peter’s Basilica, made in resin and presented in two colour variations (one completely white, the other in charcoal grey on the outside with a golden finish on the inside).

With this project AMeBE (Alessandra Mantovani and Eleonora Barbareschi) pay homage to one of the architectural symbols of Italian creativity, paying tribute to Italy’s culture, to the richness of the history and the invaluable beauty of the art.

LINEA – design Selab

Seletti rethinks one of its most loved and meaningful lightin project. The minimalism of the Linea lamp evolves into new geometric patterns, which transforms drastically its look.

The simple LED tubes are enriched with stripes and multicoloured pixels and become optical artworks. New pop ecorations to transform each environment in a revolutionary experience.

DIESEL LIVING WITH SELETTI – Cosmic Diner

Diesel, with Seletti, is celebrating the fiftieth anniversary of the first man on the moon with a series of new proposals designed for those who fearlessly dream of taking on new cosmic missios. The Diesel Living with Seletti collection continues to spread the fascination with the least-known aspects of the cosmos, proposing the new Starman in a brilliant gold-coloured version, the Cosmic Hangers, and the suggestive Side Doesn’t Matter plates.

STARMAN GOLD

The Starman vase is a homage to the desire to discover and the tenacity of mankind to overcome its own limits. In this new gold edition it becomes a precious design object to display in the most contemporary settings.

COSMIC HANGERS

A weighted solar system for making walls truly unique: Cosmis Hangers is a poetic and futuristic series of wooden hangers that faithfully portray the galaxies and planets. With their unique, new aesthetic, they decorate the spaces of the home in a functional and truly out of this world way!

SIDE DOESN’T MATTER

A green light to the discovery of and desire to explore new worlds: Side Doesn’t Matter is the pair of dinner plates depicting Earth as seen from the moon, letting the imagination fly free from this planet for an instant.

A sincere look at the world from a different perspective: that of the table.
